Heber Springs junior girls stumble in opener

HEBER SPRINGS – The Heber Springs junior girls opened their season with a 21-16 setback to Mount St. Mary Tuesday night at the Panther Den.

Heber Springs trailed 9-6 at the half, but the Belles outscored Heber Springs 10-6 in the third quarter to take a 19-12 advantage into the final quarter.

Ada Choate paced the Panthers with eight points.

Heber Springs returns to action on Thursday when they host Mount Vernon-Enola. The seventh-grade girls and boys open play at 5 p.m. followed by both the junior girls and boys.

HEBER SPRINGS SCORING (16): Ada Choate 8, Taylor Parker 4, Jovie Smithson 2, Baleigh Burchfield 2.

MOUNT ST. MARY SCORING (21): E. Koehler 6, C. Riley 5, A. Hatfield 4, A. Johnson 4, A. Saffridge 2.
